Suitability screening
Every applicant goes through a private suitability conversation before a place is confirmed. This covers your health history, current medications, expectations, and personal circumstances, and gives you a chance to ask questions. Please do not send detailed medical or medication information through the general contact form or mailing-list sign-up — the placeholder screening process below is where that belongs, once it is in place.
Medication and health disclosures
Placeholder — the specific medications, conditions and interactions that affect eligibility will be listed here once provided by Heart of Jungle's screening process. Certain medications (in particular some antidepressants) and certain health conditions can interact with plant medicines in ways that matter for safety — this is exactly what the suitability conversation is designed to catch.
Mental-health considerations
Plant-medicine ceremonies can bring up intense emotional and psychological material. They are not appropriate for everyone, and are not a replacement for medical or psychological care. The suitability conversation will ask about your current and past mental health so that, together, we can make an informed decision about whether a retreat is right for you at this time.
Informed consent
Participation is entirely voluntary. Before a retreat begins, you will be asked to confirm your understanding of what is involved and to give informed consent to take part. You are free to withdraw your consent, decline any part of a ceremony, or leave at any point.
Personal boundaries
Your boundaries — physical, emotional and otherwise — are respected throughout. Facilitators will discuss consent and boundaries with you as part of preparation, and you are always free to say no.
